Syston local policing unit (LPU) covers a large area and comprises both rural and urban communities with approximately 40,000 residents.

The Thurmaston, Syston and Birstall neighbourhood beats are a mix of residential and commercial premises in an urban environment, all of which are relatively close to Leicester city. The Barkby and East Goscote neighbourhood beat covers a largely rural area and includes many villages as well as the residential area of East Goscote.

Within the LPU there are four large secondary schools as well as a number of primary schools. These are sited across the LPU and some take a number of students from across the city.

As well as many recreational parks the LPU also includes a substantial part of the Watermead Countryside Park which is visited by many people from all over the county throughout the year.

There is a thriving community spirit throughout the area covered by Syston local policing unit with a large number of active community groups and a number of carnivals and street parades held annually.

We provide a 24-hour policing service but there may be times when you need to go into a police station. Listed below is your local policing unit together with its usual opening times. Whilst we try hard to make sure that the opening hours are kept to there may be occasions when, due to operational reasons, it may be necessary to change them.
