Burglar Alarms

In recent months a number of burglar alarms have been activated whilst the occupants have been away on holiday, unfortunately in many cases the homeowners had forgotten to leave a contact number for the key holder. I know of one alarm where the blue light flashed continually for 10 days. Can I appeal to anyone that has an alarm to leave a contact number with either a neighbour or the police, then should the alarm be activated the key holder could be informed.
