School Watch
Protecting our Children
There can be no denying that amongst the most vulnerable of our society are our children and they are most at risk travelling to and returning home from school.
It is the responsibility of all, the parents, the schools themselves, the Police, the local Authority and the Education Welfare Department of the Local Authority to work together to ensure as far as they are able, the safety and welfare of our children.
A School Watch system is simple in its concept but effective in reducing the risks to children and, once in place, takes very little effort to operate within existing resources.
An effective scheme depends on all taking an active part and on information received being circulated to all schools in the shortest possible time. This can be achieved by a telephone ring-round or a simple single contact telephone number.
Stonebow Primary School and Robert bakewell School are very safe schools. When the pupils are out on the playground they are always supervised by a member of staff.
It is always recommended that either a parent or guardian escorts the youngsters to and from school.
When this is not possible, to go in a group is preferred.
When the school is closed, either in the evenings, weekends or holidays, if you see or hear anything that you think should not be going on, do phone the police.
Telephone 0116 222 2222 and tell the officer it is about Stonebow or Robert Bakewell School and is part of a micro-beat in Loughborough.
Whilst on the phone ask for an incident number. This makes tracking at a later date very effective.
Help the school to help you.
Thank you.
