Beat Cascade Manager.

The Beat Cascade Manager is the main contact between the Police and each of the schemes.

Any important information can be channeled effectively from the Beat Officer, NW Office or Police directly around the schemes.
This also works in reverse where co-ordinators or deputies can bring matters to attention for the Police.

As Beat Cascade Manager for Beat 14, a regular visit is made to the Police Station to get updates from the Police relating to our area.

Where new schemes are set up the Cascade Manager will lead a discussion of residents what is involved for running a scheme together with the Beat Officer or memeber of the local community unit.

Scheme Co-ordinator

Each Neighbourhood Watch scheme has a co-ordinator and a deputy who look after the running of their scheme.

The co-ordinator will be the recipient of information supplied by the Police through the Loughborough Neighbourhood Watch office.
This can range from incidents happening nearby to general alerts relating to distraction burglaries or getting the good news that nothing much is happening.

In turn, it is expected that this information, when deemed relevant, is passed on to their scheme members.
This is normally done by having a word, dropping a note round or giving folks a telephone call.

Each scheme has the oppertunity to send two representatives to a six weekly meeting held at the Police Station.
This meeting is shared with representatives from Beat 13. A long running liaison has seen the benefits of both areas working together.
Here the Beat Officers can describe what has been going on and information is supplied about trends and actual incidients.

A deputy is required in the event of holidays and the like.

Scheme member

As a scheme member you will benefit on finding out what is actually happening.
How many horror stories have you not heard which are based on nothing more than gossip and, in time, severe exaggeration ? Get the truth about crime.

At the same time if you know of a crime and wish not to be directly involved you can pass on information via the above structure without the fear of reprisals.
You can always contact crimestoppers instead if you wish.

Being part of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme will allow, with some insurance companies, to reduce your home contents insurance.
It is recognised that those people involved with Neighbourhood Watch do take more care of their property and posssesions and this is reflected in some reductions in premiums paid.
