Why are the Police recruiting volunteers ?The Leicestershire Constabulary wishes to enhance its services by utilising the tremendous enthusiasm, commitment and skills available within the community. What does it mean to be a Police volunteer ?Volunteers are unpaid and of their own free will contributes time, energy and skills to benefit people in their community. Work undertaken is intended to be additional/supplemental to work currently undertaken by Police Officers and Support Staff and not in any way a substitute or alternative for work that full and part-time staff are able to undertake. What qualifications do I need ?No official qualifications are needed. Good written and verbal communication skills are required. A freindly approach to working wth the public, and the ability to work well within a team. Also volunteers must be able to work in an environment where confidentiality is important and have sometimes have experience in report writing. What training will I receive to carry out the work ?The following elements of training must be delivered before volunteers assume any dealings with members of the public : Other elements of training will include basic procedures. All the training given will match those duties you have volunteered for. Will I be working alone ?Volunteers will work in pairs or they will be supervised by a Regular Officer or member of Support Staff. What is the recruitment process ?Interested parties will be invited to complete a volunteer registration form and subsequently an application form enclosing the completed Health Information form, signed by their GP.
