Car windscreen etching

Etch

The Etching Team

Reducing car crime was the aim of a free car windscreen etching session run by Shepshed Police and Autoglass .
The service was being given outside the Shepshed Co-op in Halcrofft on the 8th July.

The Police and local firm Autoglass etched registration numbers onto their windows - this makes it more difficult for thieves to re-sell the car with false plates.

Community co-ordinator Susan Willett said the initiative has been very successful in other areas of the force and wanted to offer it again to the residents of Shepshed.

The operations manager for Autoglass, Joe Giammalva said: "Autoglass is pleased to provide this free service supporting local people and Police".

PC Kevin Gray and Bob Stevens from Neighbourhood Watch, were both on hand to offer free extra crime prevention advice and information.

Members of the community volunteers also played an active part throughout the day.
The take up was great as people were queueing up to have their windows etched.
