Shepshed Carnival - 6th August.
Shepshed held their annual carnival where Neighbourhood Watch had a stall. Here the public were able to see what Neighbourhood Watch has to offer.
An oppertunity was shown for people to become a NHW Volunteer.
Literature and crime prevention gismos were on show and available for purchase.
Luckily there was good weather and a lot of people attended.

Police and Police Community Volunteers attended the Shepshed carnival to
highlight their work among the local community and to recruit new
volunteers.
The police volunteers discussed the role they play as part of the police
family and highlighted the variety of events and activities they get
involved in whilst supporting regular Policing operations. The volunteers
who attended the carnival were successful in recruiting 4 new potential
volunteers.
The volunteers also disributed crime prevention information to local people
ranging from the young to the elderly. Local school children were reminded
of the dangers of strangers when on the internet and the elderly and
vulnerable were given advice and information on how to protect themselves
from becoming a victim of distraction burglary. Information and advice was
also given on vehicle and home security. Throughout the day approximatly 40
local people took advantage of the free service and had their mobile phones
security coded.
